The Hindley Street Riot was a violent clash between voters over Legislative Council candidates, James Hurtle Fisher and Anthony Forster. Stones were thrown at the hustings and polling booth at the Blenheim Hotel, and later in the day when Forster was declared the winner a riot ensued at Exchange Hotel.
