Abolish the Monarchy

The last referendum held in Australia was in November 1999. Australians were asked to vote on the establishment of an Australian republic.

The proposal detailed that the Queen and Governor-General would be replaced by a President appointed by a two-thirds majority of the members of the Commonwealth Parliament. The referendum did not pass. This badge represents some Australians’ feelings about remaining a constitutional monarchy.
